“We got about three episodes’ worth,” announced the producers of the popular television reality series Ice Road Truckers, much to the dismay of fans worldwide. “We wish we had more ice, but this is just one of the many risks we take here. Mother Nature doesn’t care about ratings, I mean, stories.”
The press conference was held earlier this week to address the apparent ice shortage in the Northern Hemisphere, where the show is filmed. While a hefty load of ice- and all its associated dangers- is a key part of the show, temperatures and rainfall simply did not create much ice this past winter.
“It’s disappointing,” one fan told reporters. “The ice brings a lot of excitement and makes life really hard for the truckers, which is fun to watch. They slip, slide, get stuck, and get frostbite. It just won’t be the same.”
Producers quickly assure viewers that there will be ice in this season’s limited run. It just melted before much filming could take place. “It’s a shortened season, that’s all,” they said. “But we are working on importing ice and covering the entire Yukon next season, so this won’t happen again, we promise.”
