In a disturbing development in the exhausting tale of the long-running COVID-19 pandemic, doctors are reporting cases of the disease jumping from humans into 18-wheelers. This not only adds to the strain on the already-stressed supply chain but leaves many trucks with disturbing long-haul COVID symptoms.
‘It started with her engine running rough,’ said driver Dwayne Bathtubh of his truck Laverne, ‘then overheating even at low speed on flat ground. When that all got better, though, she was left with lingering issues: fuzzy memory in the ECM, slow acceleration, water leaking out of the exhaust. It hurts to see my baby like this.’
Bathtubh believes Laverne caught COVID at a truck stop from a White Freightliner that wasn’t wearing its grille cover.
