In a distinct and surprising departure from his well-known and lucrative career path as a high-octane action-driving movie star in the Fast and Furious franchise, actor Vin Diesel announced today that he is shifting gears, so to speak, and embarking on a new film series for kids.
Related to but in an entirely different tone to his other venture, the Slow and Soothing movies will feature Diesel as a children’s party balloon delivery driver. He will be behind the wheel of a souped-up Barbie-pink electric truck with a top speed of 3.7 mph. His character will have to navigate the treacherous world of illegal underground helium cartels.
‘Yeah, the stunts are slower,’ Diesel says, ‘but my aspirin bill isn’t bigger than my paycheck now.’
