In another example of weird freight interlining, a box trailer shipment of toy aircraft carriers bound for the gift shop at Norfolk Naval Base transferred its cargo to another truck that was hauling toy aircraft carriers with toy trucks on its flight deck that was carrying toy aircraft carriers.
“Yeah, you see all sorts of crazy things if you stay in this business long enough,” says veteran trucker Verne Figment Ufteemaginayshun from his rocking chair on the porch of the Special Home for Bewildered Drivers in Confusion, Kansas. “Once, I saw an independent trucker make a profit two quarters running.”
Upon delivery, the load of toy aircraft carrier-carrying trucks was trucked across the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and installed in its gift shop. “I’ve carried these for years,” said its manager, Master Chief Petty Officer Lyle Carrière.
