Driver Swaps Seat for Bucket of Ice to Combat Heat Wave

As summer descends and temperatures hit record highs yet again, one Texas trucker has figured out how to keep comfortable – and cool.

“My driver’s seat used to be this fake leather that looked really cool, but it was hot and sticky from April until November, and I just couldn’t stand it anymore,” the man, Marty McDry, told reporters. So what was his clever solution to this uncomfortable problem?

“Now I sit in a bucket full of ice,” McDry proudly announced. “I took the old seat out, went down to the store, bought a big plastic bucket, filled it with ice, and I just sit in that for six, eight hours at a time. When it melts, I stop off and get some more ice.”

Experts warn this solution may not work for everyone. One told reporters, “The human body is not meant to be kept in a meat locker, so to speak. When exposed to temperatures that low, you risk numbness, nerve damage, even frostbite.”

McDry remains confident, however, and insists this solution works for him. “Sure, I can’t feel the lower half of my body after thirty minutes, but I don’t need to. I cut little holes for my legs to stick out and work the pedals, and that works just fine. I may drive slightly slower, but I am saving a ton on shower bills.”

The latest word is that McDry plans to file a patent for his invention, but whether his unusual method of keeping cool will catch on remains to be seen.
