IRS Implements New “Shotgun Agent” Program to Monitor Truckers’ Taxes

In a stunning announcement, the IRS has declared that they will implement a new program to ensure that all truckers are paying their fair share of taxes. Starting on January 1st, 2024, every truck driver will be required to have an IRS agent riding shotgun with them on every trip.

The IRS claims that this new program will help to crack down on tax evasion in the trucking industry. Still, many truck drivers are less than thrilled about the prospect of having a government agent watching their every move. “Are you kidding me? I don’t want some IRS guy riding with me all day,” exclaimed one truck driver. “What am I supposed to do, give him a lift every time I stop to take a leak?”

The IRS has yet to release details on how the program will work or how the agents will be assigned to drivers. Still, the trucking industry is already bracing for the worst.

“This is just another way for the government to stick their nose in our business and make our lives more difficult,” said another driver. “What’s next, a tax on how many times we shift gears?”

Only time will tell how this new program will play out, but one thing is sure: the trucking industry will never be the same again.
