Early Thursday morning, the Illinois Department of Transportation responded to a call that claimed a semi-truck was stuck in the middle of the Mississippi River. Upon further investigation, they encountered a distressed man, Bruce Kerr, who had escaped the truck on the riverbank.
According to Bruce, he needed to cross the state border to Iowa but would’ve had to drive 50 miles to the next bridge to do so. Needing a quicker option, he selected the “Fastest” route on his Navigation System, a new feature debuted by the manufacturer company after a poor 2021 earnings season.
The GPS told him to drive straight through the Mississippi River. “How can I be responsible for that? I always do what my GPS tells me to do, just like I always do what my wife tells me to do.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened a case into the Manufacturer of GPS and has stated that Bruce will not be held accountable for his actions. GPS Company has now added a disclaim to its “Fastest” GPS option in response to such claims but will not remove the feature from its platform. Prior to the stock market’s opening, Company was already trading at a 22% loss compared to yesterday’s close.
