At its annual meeting last week, the USA Trucking Association voted to change the name of Mother’s Day to Truck Wives Matter.
Spokesperson Eunice M. Phatic explained, ‘Well, we driving ladies all got together down at the Curl Up and Dye beauty salon, as we do the first Saturday of every month, hauling schedules permitting, gabbing about the usual stuff: kids, mortgages, whether Bendix or Meritor brakes are better, and having to use a box of kitty litter on the road to take care of business. Then Laverne started in on her man Larry, and things got heated. Next thing you know, Mother’s Day came up, and here we are.’
Other name choices included Tax Deduction Producer’s Day, His Personal Servant’s Day, and You’re Damned Right I Read Your Phone Messages from Trixie, and You Got Some ‘Splainin’ to Do Day.
