The world’s wealthiest man found himself on the wrong end of a big business deal this week when Twitter’s board rejected his bid of $44 billion in favor of the higher figure offered by a retired truck driver.
In a surprise move that stunned the business community, Milo Davenport, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ponied up $47 billion in cash. Musk himself was so shocked that he had himself blasted into space for a week to recover.
Davenport didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. “I drove a truck for 40 years,” he pointed out. “Everybody knows what big bucks that bring in. I’m rolling in $100 bills and had to spend some of it to give myself a place to sit down.”
