In a bizarre turn of events, truckers driving along the busy Interstate 95 were met with an unexpected obstacle during this year’s spring break. According to eyewitnesses, thousands of college students had decided to hitch a ride on the back of 18-wheelers in order to reach their favorite party destinations.
The impromptu caravan caused chaos on the highway as cars were forced to swerve out of the way of the massive trucks loaded with excited co-eds. Traffic was backed up for miles as the procession made its way down the interstate, with truckers honking their horns and revelers cheering and blasting music from their boomboxes.
One trucker, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene as “absolutely insane.” “I had no idea what was going on at first,” he said. “I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a bunch of kids climbing onto my trailer. Before I knew it, there were dozens of them back there, waving their arms and shouting. It was like something out of a movie.”
Despite the obvious safety concerns, most of the truckers seemed to be taking the impromptu spring breakers in stride, even offering them snacks and water during the long journey. However, one driver reportedly had enough after his truck was commandeered by a group of particularly rowdy partiers and was seen pulling off to the side of the road and kicking them all off.
In the end, for those who made it to their destination, it was one spring break they surely won’t soon forget. But for those without a ride – namely the truckers and highway patrol officers – it was an experience they’d rather have left at the side of the I-95. A lesson in taking what you can get and not asking questions, or trusting too much in the kindness of strangers. At least that’s what we can take away from this bizarre procession down America’s interstates.
