Today the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland, interrupted its weekly poker game to announce that it plans to add Big Rig Curling to the 2026 Winter Games in Milan.
Saying that the Olympics has always changed with the times, spokesperson Sophia Taikesabriba equated adding truck curling to the additions of snowboarding and rock climbing. “Those sports were aimed at the youth demographic and the sports they preferred. We naturally felt that the blue-collar people deserved their own winter sport. NASCAR made a strong case for 4 x 4 pickups on skis, but in the end, we had to go with trucker curling.”
The rules will be much the same as traditional curling, with a few changes. The rink will be ¼-mile long, and the stones will be 1942 Goodyear 600 Deluxe whitewalls. Trucks will bump the tires down the ice, with 1951 Wayne street sweepers doing broom duty.
