In the category of “things they said could never be done and probably shouldn’t even be contemplated,” getting a complete 18-wheeler onto the pinnacle of Mt. Everest has to be up there, so to speak. But impossible things are billionaire mountain climber Ava Lanche’s stock in trade. So when the challenge was made to her at a particularly well-lubricated Explorer’s Club dinner.
“Getting up there wasn’t the hard part,” she explained to the press. “Grandmas, blind people, and amputees do it all the time. But balancing that sucker on the tip of the mountain long enough for a selfie was the real challenge. The Sherpas all got frostbite while we kept moving them around in the truck to get it stable.”
Lanche set another record on the way down by setting the speed record for a semi-truck.
