A House of Representatives Transportation subcommittee investigating electronic safety concerns in the trucking industry followed the evidence that it led this week and ended up interviewing the control panel of a 2019 Toyota delivery truck.
The panel, which insisted on being called Barney, testified on its inner electrical components’ stability and fire resistance and did not mince words. ‘Lemme tell ya, babe,’ the gravel-voiced dashboard said to a shocked Nancy Pelosi, ‘the stuff I’ve seen light yer hair on fire. All it takes to fry my circuits is one spilled chili dog. Add a slosh from a Big Gulp, and the whole kit and kaboodle might explode.’
When asked about how easy he was to hack and thus potentially evade some federal safety requirements, Barney pleaded with the Fifth Amendment.
