Inflation Reduction Act Requires Trucks to Reduce Tire Pressure

After months of political maneuvering and inter-party squabbling in Congress, the Inflation Reduction Act is now law. Along with the other many impacts it will have on American life, the one affecting truckers most will be the mandated reduction in tire inflation.

Deep in the fine print of the law is a provision requiring all 18-wheelers to run their tires at 5 psi less than normal. This was inserted into the bill at the last moment by Representative Billy Jo Miasma of Florida. When asked why, he replied, “That leaves more air for the rest of us to breathe, am I right?”

Truckers are now watching the pending Only Pay Toilets at Truck Stops Act with great interest.
