NASA Scrubs Artemis Launch…with Pressure-wash Truck

The highly-anticipated unmanned lunar mission Artemis 1 ran into a bit of a snag Monday when its launch was delayed thanks to a flock of seagulls. The noisy and obnoxious birds decided that the main engine’s rust-colored paint job required some artistic touches. They were so enthusiastic in their artistry that NASA had to scrub the launch…literally.

Kennedy Space Center’s crack fleet of canary-yellow pressure-wash flatbeds leaped into action. In only 2 days, they removed the avian art installation and restored the rocket to its former glory.

The launch will be rescheduled as soon as Mission Control gets done arguing over whether the birds intended an homage to Jackson Pollock or Willem de Kooning.
