Trucker Pulled Over for Driving 120 MPH Blames Recent Viewing of Fast and Furious 7 Officer Lets Him Off with a Warning

Eryck Latham first became fascinated with the Fast and Furious series when he was a child. At a rest stop near Corncountry, Iowa, he decided to watch the seventh film in the series, Fast and Furious 7. Energized by an electric performance from Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, Eryck jumped into his semi-truck and did a burnout in the truck stop parking lot, nearly starting his engine on fire.

“I high-tailed it out of there, imagining that I was being chased by some drug lords who had a bounty on me,” Eryck said. “I was swerving in and out of different lanes, and only 14 cars honked at me.” When he saw flashing lights in his side-view mirrors, Eryck accepted the challenge – but upon accelerating to approximately 124 mph, his engine combusted.

The police officer, Becky DuClay, was just about to arrest Eryck when he explained his defense of having just seen Fast and Furious 7. Becky immediately apologized to Eryck, stating that she “realized it was an honest mistake.” Becky’s recommendation to Eryck was to ensure that he didn’t drive for the 6-7 hours after watching any movie with Vin Diesel in it. According to sources, the CEO of Eryck’s trucking company has decided to keep him on the team.
