Trucker uses a hedge fund to hedge bets by buying actual hedge

Retired short-haul driver Wilhelmina Fohlyuge wanted an investment that she could reach out and touch, not just “bytes in a computer someplace.” So she cashed out her hedge fund and bought…a hedge.

Not just any hedge, though. Hers can be seen from space.

Fohlyuge paid $3.7 million for the 300-acre Aryushoorboutdis hedge maze in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, planted in 1854 by a wealthy plantation owner who later perished in the Civil War when he ironically fell off his horse onto a thorn bush.

She plans to charge $5 to tour it. When seen from a great height, the maze pattern spells out “made you look!”
