When Julia Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia, trucks, as we know them now, had barely been invented. Goods were mostly hauled by train or horse and wagon. But times have certainly changed in over 100 years. Nowadays even the tiniest Scouts, the 5 and 6-year-old Daisies can earn badges in trucking. They even drive downsized rigs.
“It’s fun,” says adorable kindergartener Bailey Boopsie from the cab of her 1/8-scale Freightliner. “We get to drive around this track and honk the horn, then deliver cupcakes to the clubhouse and falsify our logbooks.”
When asked if she had any problems with her Daisies trucking program, the cute little scamp said, “No, not really. It’d all be perfect it if weren’t for those bastards at DOT.”
