Special Trucks for Work in Nashville’s Sequin Mines

Rhinestone cowboys don’t just magically happen. Those sparkly bits have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is the legendary sequin mines of Nashville, Tennessee. But it’s increasingly difficult to find workers who are willing to brave the dangerous conditions down in the sparkle-pits. The “glitterati” can rest assured that their supply will keep on flowing, thanks to newly-developed trucks that automate much of the procedure.

Designed by the well-known San Francisco firm Fantabulous Motors, the low-slung vehicles are controlled remotely from the surface, ensuring that workers won’t have to risk the dreaded and fatal twinkle lung. Robotic arms will pluck the sequins and other baubles from the rock walls and delicately drop them into giant Gucci bags.

The bags will be returned to the surface on conveyor belts to be washed and polished by teams of unemployed country singers hired by Dolly Parton.

Fantabulous Motors has also won the contract to provide machines to harvest golden guitar picks  in the nearby fields.
