Jennifer Manfred had never been to England before, so she accepted an international gig with a trucking organization based in the United Kingdom, BritTruck. “I just really, really wanted one of those ‘London Underground’ t-shirts that everyone has,” she said. “And I obviously had to see Big Ben” Unfortunately for her, BritTruck assigned Jennifer her first order quite a ways away from London – a trip from Bath to Plymouth.
The trip, according to BritTruck, should’ve taken a minimum of 3 hours. When Jennifer called in to dispatch to report that she had dropped off the shipment in just under 90 minutes, BritTruck’s logistics personnel were afraid that they’d hired a fraudster – or a thief. However, they were confused after verifying that the product was delivered appropriately to the supplier. “Either she teleported, or she should be driving in F1 races,” a BritTruck employee said.
When asked how she did it, she said it was easy: “Everyone else was driving on the wrong side of the road, so I basically had no traffic the entire way.” At one point, she said, she even had a police escort. Unbeknownst to BritTruck, Jennifer had been driving on the wrong side of the road. Once informed, they politely denied the information as being true.
Upon a deeper investigation into the company’s financials, it became clear that they needed Jennifer’s driving “skills” to drive customer satisfaction and increase delivery times. “We have no record of wrongdoing,” BritTruck said in a press release. “We are also now offering a new service: ‘Faster Than Lightning’ delivery times, thanks to our newest employee of the month – Jennifer Manfred!”
