Department of Transportation requires all Peterbilts to be made by workers named Peter

In an unprecedented move sure to raise eyebrows, the federal Department of Transportation issued a ruling mandating that all Peterbilt trucks be only made by employees with Peter in their names.

“The American public deserves accuracy in labeling,” said DOT spokesperson Grace N. Derpresher. “They have a right to expect that if a product claims to be built by someone, it should be the truth. So as of next month, only people with the first or last name of Peter or Peters can be on that assembly line. But in order to comply with equal-opportunity laws, we will accept Pierre and Pedro.”

Also receiving the notice were Mack, Kenworth, and Mercedes trucks, as well as Horton brakes and Hercules tires. DOT admitted that the last one would be a difficult hire and therefore allows an extra 30 days.
