Hot on the heels of Twitter’s controversial new paid verification system, the U.S. Department of Transportation has unveiled its own Blue Checkmark plan, which it promises will streamline deliveries and cut through red tape at toll roads, making the whole trucking industry more efficient. And all for the low, low price of only $8,000 a month.
DOT spokesperson Trustmee O’Gullible said at a press conference that the idea is similar to the TSA’s speedy PreCheck system at airports, “only you pay a premium rate for premium benefits.” Those benefits include a handsome Blue Checkmark decal for the windshield and one free truck wash a year. “Perfectly in line with what you’ve come to expect from government programs.”
The DOT expects the program to save drivers upwards of 18 minutes per month.
